The grape leafhopper Arboridia koreacola (Matsumura) is one of the important pests ongrapes. In this paper, the distribution and hosts, the biological characteristics, the populationoccurrence rule, the spatial distribution pattern, trapping effects of yellow sticky boards on theadults of A. koreacola in Shaanxi Guanzhong area were studied, the species of pests (mites)and enemies in vineyards were investigated. The population dynamics, the annual life history, the life habit and the spatial distribution pattern of A. koreacola were clarified. Trappingeffects of different types of yellow sticky boards on overwintering adults of A. koreacola ingreenhouses and outdoor vineyards were compared and confirmed. Trapping effects on thehanging height, density and colors of yellow sticky boards to the A. koreacola wereresearched. The results are as follows:1. Through the fields and host investigation of grape varieties to the A. koreacola inShaanxi Guanzhong area, the results showed that the A. koreacola were distributed in eachgrape production area in Guanzhong. Yangling area was relatively damaged by this pestespecially. The grape variety Kyoho were hosted and damaged by A. koreacola stand out. Moreover this pest also damaged the Cabernet Sauvignon and Wild Grape varieties.2.There are three generations of grape leafhopper A. koreacola in Guanzhong area oneyear. The adults overwinter by hiding in the fallen leaves, ruderal, wall mullion and soil seam. The apple orchards, peach orchards and pear orchards near the vineyards also have someoverwintering adults of A. koreacola. The body color of overwinter adults is deeper. And thisgrape pest move into vineyards at budding stage of grape in the mid-April in the next year.3. The population dynamics of A. koreacola:The generation of adults are easy todistinguish. Except the first generation of nymph and adult occurs with large numbers andconcentrate relatively, the later generations were overlapping seriously. From late May toearly July for the first generation of adult occurrence period, early June to early August for thesecond generation of adult occurrence period, from late July to next mid-April period for thethird generation of adults. The population reduced rapidly with the temperature decreasefrom late October and adults began to overwinter. 4. The adult body color have two types: yellow-white and reddish brown, andoverwintering adults are all yellow-white type. The nymph has five instars.5. The spatial distribution pattern of A. koreacola was aggregated distribution inGuanzhong area. Individuals were attracted mutually and aggregation intensity increased withpopulation density increasing. And the population density of this pest presented the dispersion-aggregation and dispersion-aggregation regulation, which changing over time withsequence dynamically.6. Trapping effects of three different types of yellow sticky boards on overwinteringadults of A. koreacola in greenhouses and outdoor vineyards: Two kinds of market yellowsticky board which made in Beijing Zhongjie and Zhejiang Taizhou have better trappingeffects in greenhouses vineyards; But the trapping effects on other kinds of insects in outdoorvineyards are better than in greenhouses. Greenhouse environment is the best overwinteringsite for A. koreacola.7. Comparison effect of A. koreacola trapped by yellow sticky boards at different heights:20cm>90cm>30cm>60cm>150cm, the best hanging height at the middle and bottom ofgrapes which have a good trapping effect on A. koreacola. Comparison effect of A. koreacolatrapped by yellow sticky boards at different numbers:20>30>10(per667aq.m), the besthanging No. of yellow sticky boards at20-30pieces per667aq.m; Comparison effect of A.koreacola trapped by yellow sticky boards with different colors: orpiment> light yellow>fluorescent green> yellowish brown> orange, when choosing the color of yellow stickyboards, the orpiment and light yellow are the first choice.8. There are123species of pests (mites) in vineyards through investigation.78speciesare pests,76species in39families in5orders belong to Insecta. And2species in2familiesin2orders belong to Arachnida. There are42species of enemies resources in vineyards, which have29species in11families in6orders belong to Insecta and13species in8familyin1order belong to Arachnida. There are3species of neutral insects belongs to1families1order.
