A Report On The Translation Of Recommender Systems Handbook(Chapter12)

This is a translation project report on the translation of the twelfth chapter of the Recommender System Handbook, published by Springer Press in2011. The source text mainly provides a comprehensive and systematic introduction to the specific application of recommender system in technology enhanced learning, related background information, recommendation goals, as well as the evaluation of the application of recommender system in technology enhanced learning. The main contents of this report are divided into six parts: Part One is the translation project description, including project background, objectives, significances, as well as the introduction to the source text and analysis of the linguistic features of it. Part Two is about the whole translation process, including translation preparations, proof-reading and modification. Part Three discusses the difficulties and problems the author met during the translation, which includes the problems of long sentence translation and technical term translation. Part Four explains the translation methods the author took in this task, and its theoretical basis; Part Five picks out some of the translation skills the author used in this project, and takes some case analysis as examples. Part Six summarizes the lessons and reflections the author get from this translation project, as well as prospects for further improvements.
