This is a report on translation of An Introduction to Foreign Language Learningand Teaching(Chapter2What is there to learn?)written by Keith Johnson. The sourcetext mainly introduces three competence of foreign language learning which accordingto the latest studies on linguistics: systemic competence, sociolinguistic competenceand strategic competence. In addition, the source language author argues that the tasksand the difficulties of learning a foreign language are based on different persons.The translation report is divided into four parts: the first part introduces theproject background, goal and significance; the second part analyzes the originalcharacteristic from the background, main content and style; In the process of translationpart, the translation methods for processing and the associated analysis are adoptedthrough the preparation and difficult inductive, which are based on the CommunicativeTranslation Theory; the last part concludes the experience and lessons obtained fromthis project as well as some unsolved problems.This translation report is based on the explanation for the problems in the processof translation and the methods of solving the problems, which aims to improve theauthor’s understanding and practice of translation.
