This is a project report on the translation of Chapter8from Teaching and Learning in theLanguage Classroom edited by Tricia Hedge. The book is an academic writing whichintroduces foreign language teaching theories and practices. This chapter mainly elaboratesteachers’ teaching methods on the students’ oral English, and discusses the methods ofimproving the speaking ability in the classroom. Under the theory of communicationtranslation, different translation methods such as synchronizing and reversing, wordconversion, division and combination are adopted to reach the best communication effect inthe process of the translation.The report consists of four parts: the first part is an introduction to the report background,objectives and significance. The second part includes the author introduction, main contentsas well as language feature of the original text. The third part, the most important part in thewhole report, elaborates the preparation before the project, the difficulties in the translationprocess and the translation methods under the guidance of translation theory. The last partsummarizes the experience, lessons and problems to be solved in the translation process.
