A Report On The Translation Of "Power, Language And Translation", From Translation In Global News

This report is based on the first chapter----“Power, Language and Translation”in the journal which is titled Translation in Global News written by Esperanca Bielsaand Susan Bassnett. In this chapter, the author mainly discusses the role of thetranslator, the implications that power and language have for news translation andother topics.The translation report consists of four parts. The first part is the briefdescription of the translated material as well as the introduction to the authors andtheir works; the second part focuses on the translation process, including thepreparations before translation, the efforts made during the translation and theimprovements after the completion of translation; the third part is concerned with caseanalyses, which involve such cases as nominalization, loose sentence, attributiveclause, adverbial, long and complicated sentences and so on, and show the translationtechniques preferred in the translation process. The forth part is a summary of mytranslation experience. The strategy used in translation is literal translation.
