Financial academic papers are written to sum up studies on financial issues. Research on translation of financial papers is beneficial to both promoting international academic exchanges in financial field and broadening students’ global vision of the latest research development. However, financial papers usually involve a wide range of subjects, complex background knowledge and numerous terminologies. In addition, with language differences between Chinese and English, it is extremely hard to translate a highly professional English financial paper into Chinese, which requires translators of excellent translation ability. With the guidance of Skopos Theory and the E-C translation practice of "Banking Globalization and Monetary Transmission", this report analyzes the stylistic features and translation difficulties of financial academic papers on syntactical and lexical level to explore some specific and effective translation strategies. First of all, for long and complex sentences, the author puts forward a five-step translation procedure with some translation strategies, such as sequential method, hysteron proteron, division, and synthetic method. In addition, there are some lexical difficulties in this task, like persons’ names, financial terms, and fuzzy words. To address these problems, the author also proposes some strategies, particularly for financial terms, which, if not translated accurately, may cause miscommunication. A two-step strategy with specific method is brought forth in this report. At last, the target text and translation process are evaluated. This report aims at offering references for financial paper translation and laying a foundation for the author’s future translation work.
