A Practice Report On The E-C Translation Of Animation

This translation practice report is based on the translation of selected chapters of Animation. This book is a professional book about animation production process. It delves into the working method and workflow behind animation, which can be conductive to animation practitioners. Today’s studies of translation in animation field merely about the animation process. Therefore, this report attempts to make some summary for translating this type of text.Firstly, the report uses Newmark’s Text Typology to analyze the characteristic of animated text translation. Secondly, I will try to analysis some difficulties in animation translation, and then explore its solution through cases. Last, this report will summarize some basic methods and translation strategies of animation translation,in order to translate the specialized text in animation field better.The main content of this report is the translation process description and the analysis of the typical cases. The translation process including pre-translation stage,translation stage and post-translation stage, and the pre-translation stage embraces the analysis of target reader of the text and the usage of parallel texts and translation tools.According to the author, the two most prominent difficulties in the translation process are the translation of terminology and the translation of long sentences, all these will be reflected through the cases analysis.According to the report, due to the animation production text is under the professional class, thus translators should be faithful to the original text as much as possible, meanwhile, consider the acceptability of the reader and the readability of the translation. Hope that this translation practice report would contribute to the study of animation translation.
