This is a practice report on conference simultaneous interpreting, and it describes asimultaneous interpreting task accomplished by the author for the Establishment ofChina Panel of Exports of Pacific Asia Tourism Association. The author was responsiblefor one E-C simultaneous interpretation and four C-E simultaneous interpretationsamong which one English speech and three Chinese speeches are taken as examples inthis report. The author analyzes the difficulties and problems in this interpreting taskand figures out how the Skopos Theory guides interpreters to choose proper interpretingstrategies so that interpreters could be fast and efficient to output target language andcomplete interpreting tasks.This report records the whole procedures of this conference simultaneousinterpreting task with four chapters. Chapter one is task description, the author suppliesthe basic information of Pacific Asia Tourism Association and the Establishment ofChina Panel of Exports of Pacific Asia Tourism Association as well as the sources andcharacteristics of the speech documents. Chapter two is interpreting process, includingpreparation before the conference to the end of feedback from the delegates. Chapterthree is case analysis under the guidance of Skopos Theory, and this chapter consists oftwo sections, and they are case analysis based on interpreting strategies and uniquecases analysis with Chinese characteristics expressions. Chapter four are conclusions,drawn by the author combining case analysis with Skopos Theory, and the conclusionsare shown as follows.First, Skopos Theory guided the author in choosing interpreting strategies andmaking the output better. Therefore, the author would apply Skopos Theory moredeeply into interpreting practice in the future. Second, a qualified interpreter shouldpossess solid language skills and interpreting strategies which are the basic abilities ofinterpreting. Language skills are bases while interpreting strategies are the tools thathelp interpreters to yield twice the result with half the effort. Third, an excellent interpreter should obtain good psychological qualities to solve emergencies.
