A Report On The C-E Simulated Simultaneous Interpreting Of Mo Yan’s Speech At Open University Of Hong Kong

Nobel Prize for literature2012is awarded to a Chinese writer, Mo Yan. He isacknowledged as the first Chinese Nobel Prize winner, representing China’s culturalsoft power and attracting worldwide attention. The interpretation of his literaryconcepts and the trajectory of his literary career can provide foreigners with a mediumto understand China’s writers and their works. The author took Mo Yan’s speech atOpen University of Hong Kong as the corpus and made the on–site simultaneousinterpreting.The author analyzes the problems involved in this practice in detail and pointsout the corresponding solutions to these problems. The goal of this practice report isto summarize instructional suggestions to improve my future interpreting.This practice report consists of four parts: task description, process description,case study，conclusion. In the first part, the author offers a brief introduction to thebackground information, the specification and the requirements for the task. Thesecond part depicts the interpreting procedures including three steps: the preparation,the process, the analysis. The third part is case study, which is the core part of thispractice report. In this part, the author analyzes the problems in the process of SI andcomes up with countermeasures. This paper finally comes up with some inspirationsfor future interpreting.
