A Report On English-Chinese Translation Of Lighting Device

The 21st Century is the era of knowledge economy. The patent of invention is not only a kind of knowledge resource, but also a kind of economic forms. It plays a more and more important role in promoting the development of science and economy. Especially after China’s entry into WTO, the demands for the translation of patent specification greatly increased. Among them, the E-C translation of patent specification is particularly important, which has a very important meaning and value for us to understand the foreign advanced technology, to introduce excellent resources, and to protect independent intellectual property rights. Therefore, this report mainly studies the E-C translation of patent specification according to a case of Lighting Device. Firstly, the report talks about the task description, mainly introducing the contents of the patent specification; then it talks about the translation process, mainly introducing the preparation, planning and proofreading of the translation practice; this report mainly focuses on the solutions of the problems encountered in the translation of words and sentences. Corresponding translation skills and Reference translation skills are used in the translation of words and phrases, while different translation strategies are used in the translation of long sentences and passive sentences according to their unique characteristics. At last, it summarizes the task of translation, concluding with the translation experience and skills summed up in the whole process of translation practice. It is hoped that this report will be useful for the further study of related translation practice.
