This is a report on the translation project of Garrets and Pretenders:A History of Bohemianism in America (Chapters 22-24), by which the author looks back on the whole translation practice and tries to sum up some lessons for the benefit of future translation. This report is made up of introduction, four chapters and conclusion. The research background, the purpose, and significance of the report are presented in Introduction. The first chapter is a general description of the task, which includes task source, the genre and characteristics of the source text. The second chapter centers on the description of the translation process including translation preparation and the theoretical basis of translation practice--Skopos Theory. The third chapter, case study, is the core part of the whole report, which focuses on the translation difficulties and methods. On the basis of the source text and target text and under the guidance of Skopos Theory, the author summarizes the difficulties in the translation and figures out some translation methods and skills to solve these difficulties. The fourth chapter is quality control which can be achieved by two main aspects:strict requirements for translators and scientific translation procedures. The last part is Conclusion. In this part, the deficiencies in the translation are listed based on an analysis of the whole translation process, and some suggestions and implications for translation are provided by the author.
