As network media develops rapidly, it has increasingly become the dominating mass media, which leads to a growing demand for interpreting regarding this area. Although there is a great demand for interpreters, a competent interpreter requires good language translation skills, and professional capability.This thesis is a report on the consecutive interpretation practice of speeches from a networking media promotion conference.The speeches were made to promote network media advertisement resources of online video industry in particular by marketing directors from renowned IT companies such as Renren and Tencent. Through the interpreting practice of this project, the author found out her shortcomings and deficiencies in interpreting, and it has laid a good foundation for future translation work.This report consists of three parts. The first part is the description of the whole interpreting task, including an introduction to the networking industry, promotion conference, and the completion of the task. The second part focuses on the pre-interpreting preparation of this project. The third part made a case analysis of the main difficulties encountered during the project. The author explored many factors affecting the interpretation such as the inner-logic of speeches,the speed at which speaker talks, and different criteria of evaluation of various interpreting projects. Based on the three above analysis, the report demonstrates the importance of good preparation and full convey of the speaker to help achieve the goal of interpretation. To obtain that, an interpreter should work hard to improve the knowledge base and the ability to analyze. At last, the author shared her personal experience during the practice and laid out the aspects need to be strengthened, such as accumulating more knowledge and raising the language level of Chinese and English.The report provides experience for networking media theme translation. In conclusion, MTI students should pay attention to the accumulation of knowledge and experience, and strive to be a qualified interpreter. |
