A Project Report On Interpreting At Mechanical Exhibitions

Exhibition industry, is referred to, in China, as a sunrise industry. In recent years, with the development of China's economy and the growing communication with the outside world, exhibition industry registered fast development. Besides, a growing number of international exhibitions are held in China. At the same time, to facilitate better communication between the domestic and foreign exhibitors and consumers,there's a growing need for qualified interpreters.The reporter took part in ITMA ASIA CITME 2016, Bauma China 2016 and a technical B2B talk as an interpreter, and the major task was to help with the communication and negotiation between two sides. The reporter encountered some difficulties in the interpretation process, including a lack of terminologies of machinery industry, misinterpretation and missing interpretation, and weak strain capacity. With the analysis and summary of specific interpretation cases, the reporter puts forward three solutions. First, improve the ability of information collection and make full preparation;Second, strengthen theoretical study and take the theory as guidance flexibly; Third, pay attention to the promotion of bilingual competence and enhance psychological quality.After the interpretation project, the reporter had a clear understanding of her own shortcomings and has learnt some lessons. As a graduate student majoring in English interpretation, we have to combine theories and practice, enhance our comprehensive capacities, and work hard to be a qualified interpreter.
