It is known that Exercises is an essential part of qualified textbook during the Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. "New textbook could be used as scientifically designed exercises book".Yang Huiyuan(1997) said. "No practice and exercises, no consolidation; no consolidation, no learning; in another word, Practice is an indispensable part during the Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language". Li Shaolin said.Therefore, it is a valuable subject to do research and discussion on the design of textbook exercise. This essay selects exercises book of comprehensible Chinese textbook, Fazhanhanyu, Boyahanyu, Meilihanyu, as target to research. Antitheses, quantitative study and individual case study have been applied to the research and analysis on the quantity, type of exercises and the content from the three textbook selected.Several wonderful parts of the exercises book are noted, and suggestions have been proposed to improve the three exercise book.This essay consists of five parts.The first part is preface, in this part; the author mainly introduces the research target, purpose and present status, and explains the mentioned concepts in this essay.The second part is focusing on the quantity of exercises. The quantity of all exercises types, the quantity of each class exercises types and the average of each class exercises types are investigated, and after the author analyzes his own teaching experience and offer the suitable average quantity of exercise, summary and suggestions come into being.The third part focuses on the analysis of the quantity of exercise from the three textbook. During this part, the author analyzes and researches the types of exercises from vary aspects and angles. First, the quantity of all exercises types, quantity of each class exercises types and the average of each class exercises types are investigated, and summary and suggestions come into being. Second, to show the rigor and science of this essay, the author researches the generalization and differentiation of the exercises from the three textbook, and looks into the exercises which is composed according to regularities and rules of learning, meanwhile, the suggestions and proposals are brought into.The fourth part analyzes the content of the exercises from the three textbook. The exercises on pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar from the three textbook have been analyzed and compared. Finally, some unique exercises are resolved and explained, so as to share the experience of composing exercise book with the future writer.The fifth part, the author summarizes and suggests the way to design of exercises book from six aspects.
