Translation Report On Qingdao Tour Guide Pamphlet

China’s tourism has stepped into flourish since the 1990 s. The booming tourism has made great contribution to the development of China’s national economy, and therefore it becomes a new strength in economy. In addition, the development of tourism industry promotes the communication between China and the outside world. So in order to strengthen the communication and cooperation and well develop the tourism industry, the translation of tourism text becomes even more important.This report is based on the experience in Qingdao Tourists Administration as a translator. The aim of this report is to make the foreign visitors have a better understanding of the city of Qingdao. As publicity material, the tourism text is intended to supply the foreign visitors with useful information and attract them.Skopos theory, firstly proposed by Hans Vermeer, made a breakthrough compared to equivalent translation that translation is not text corresponding. So skopos theory is used to instruct the solution of translation problems in this translation practice as the translation of tourism text is not the process of “word for word”translation, instead, the translation should achieve the goal of vocative function. Under the guidance of skopos theory, the author introduces the translation practice in seven chapters. It is hoped that this translation report can make contribution to the development of Qingdao tourism and it is expected that the translation report can give some enlightenment and help for those who will do such kind of translation.This translation experience and the writing of the translation report benefits the author a lot in both theory and practice.
