| This paper is composed of a project report mainly on English to Chinese interpreting.The author assumed the role as a interpreter in the Indonesia Promotion conference on September 12th 2016.The conference aimed at promoting bilateral trade by attracting more Chinese investors to Indonesia with favorable economic policies.This report,as a summary and analysis of the English to Chinese interpreting assignment,includes task description,preparation,case study and conclusion.In chapter one,the report briefly introduces the background information of the conference,the description of the assignment as well as its requirements.In chapter two,the report dwells on pre-interpreting preparations in the long-term and short-term as well as on-site preparation.Chapter three is case study,which includes two segments.In the first part,the author applies the Theory of Sense to cope with the Indonesian English and other problems the author came across at the conference.The second part focuses on the interpreting strategies adopted by the author as a student interpreter,analyzing the interpreting strategies adopted by student interpreter and professional interpreter differently and trying to explore how the author can become a professional interpreter.Chapter four records peer feedback,self-assessment as well as the author’s reflections on the interpreting task.The report is aimed at analyzing the the author’s weakness in interpreting for further improvement,hoping to offer some food for thought to fellow interpreters. |
