This is a translation report on the book The Bungalow Mystery, an American children novel, written by Carolyn Keene. The translator chooses Chapter 2,3&5 as the original text. This report is divided into four chapters. Chapter one is an introductory part, including the project background, its objectives and significances as well as the project outline. Chapter two is a background introduction to the original text, including the author’s information, the content, the structure and the language style of the original text. Chapter three is an overview of the translation difficulties and translation strategies and methods used in translating process. In accordance with Reader’s Response Theory, from two aspects of word and sentence, the translator uses translation methods such as onomatopoetic words & reduplicative, function words addition, verbalization, domestication and free translation to deal with words and slang sentences translation problems in original dialogues. Chapter four is the conclusion, summarizing the experience and lessons gained from the translation project report, and problems that need to be solved.
