A Report On Interpreting In International Furniture Machinery Fair 2015

The exhibition is a publicity campaign for presenting products and technologies, expanding marketing channels,promoting sales and spreading brands. With the increase of exhibition’s economy scale and level, China has become an exhibition power in Asia. CIFF(China International Furniture Fair)as a famous international exhibition, attracts many participants from different regions and counties of the world. And this paper is a report on interpreting in CIFF. The writer analyses the interpreting process and the problems she met at the exhibition.The report consists of four parts. The first part is a brief introduction of the task, including the task background, client requirements and task type. The second part is the task process which is from beginning to the end, including preparation before interpreting,quality control, emergency situations and temporary task, and the self and client evaluations. The third part is case analysis. The writer chooses several typical cases to give the detailed analysis from four perspectives: the processing of vocabulary items, the use of simplification, the interpreter’s hesitation and misinterpreting, and the importance of interpreter’s cultural background knowledge. The last part is the conclusion of the report. The writer highlights the importance of the preparation before interpreting and gives the prospect for the future study and work.
