From the perspective of crosscultural communication/this research stu dies the meanings of the representative body words in modern Chinese an d Thai language, and the teaching strategies of these words are introduced This study selected 4 body words, namely:eye, brain, face, and head. After a new distribution of the meanings of these 4 body words in Chines e dictionary and Thai dictionary by using the Corpus, this study describes an analysis of the meanings and the compound words of these 4 body wor ds in Modern Chinese Dictionary (6th edition)and Thai Dictionary. This s tudy can be divided into 3 parts. The first part includes the theories and di vision practice of semantic field concerning the compiling of dictionaries. The second part of this study begins from Chapter 1 to Chapter 4, which, on the basis of an analysis of large Corpus data, redistributes the meanin gs of eye, brain, face and head in modern Chinese and Thai language, and meanwhile proposes some suggestions of modification of the definitions and inclusion of body words in Modern Chinese Dictionary and ThaiDictionary. The last part is the conclusion of this study and illustrates the deficiency of this article.By using the Corpus data and combining bot h quantitative and qualitative research methods, this study mainly analyze s 4 basic words of body words in modern Chinese and Thai language, and hopes to provide reliable data for further researches.
