Corpus-based Study On The Meaning Items Distribution Of The Representative Words In Psychological Motivation Semantic Field In Modern Chinese

Since the 1980s,corpus technology has witnessed a growing development,which helps to establish a foundation a large scale of speech samples will be extracted to make effective quantitative and qualitative analysis.In that case,the traditional way of introspection and enumeration in compiling a dictionary would be changed.This makes it possible for the integrated quantitative and qualitative analysis,thus leaving an improved space for a scientific,systematic and accurate compilation of dictionary.Based on corpus technology,together with related theories mentioned in subjects like lexicography,semantics and cognitive linguistics,this thesis applies a quantitative and qualitative method to make a research on the meaning items distribution of the representative words in psychological motivation semantic field containing "lu""huan","pa","si","jue",with an reference to the six edition of Modern Chinese Dictionary.A reexamination of interpretation in Modern Chinese Dictionary would be done so as to offer reference for future revision.This paper can be divided into three parts,introduction part,body part and conclusion part.The introduction part gives a detailed review of domestic and foreign research on cognitive linguistics which acts as a solid theoretical support in the interpretation of meaning items and shows an expectation of its future development.Chapter One to Five is the body part of the thesis.These five representative words in psychological motivation semantic field“lu","huan","pa","si","jue" are made as the subjects of the study.Analyzed through corpus technology,this paper brings problems that "1 i" lacks two meaning items;"huan" adds five meaning items;"pa" lacks four meaning items;"si" lacks three meaning items and "jue" lacks three meaning items.Faced with these problems,we need to result related theories like lexicography,semantics and cognitive linguistics,thus offering suggestion for additional revision.Part Three is the conclusion part.A summary is made on the meaning items distribution of the five representative words in psychological motivation semantic field while its creative points and shortcomings are also included.
