Corpus-Based Study On The Meaning Items Distribution Of The Representative Words In Mouth Motion Semantic Field In Modern Chinese

A combination of quantitative and qualitative studying methods were used in this paper, in which five representative words among the mouth movements semantic field in the "Modern Chinese Dictionary" (6th edition) were selected as the objects of study, including:"eat", "bite", "blowing", "call" and "drink". Their distribution of meaning items were also reanalyzed by Corpus technology. Besides, the combined theory of lexicography, theory lexicology, semantics and cognitive linguistics were used to interpret the implication of these five representative words on this basis.In introduction, I mainly retrospected and foreseed the existing cognitive domain issues. Combining theories of cognitive linguistics, the theory of cognitive domains were reconstructed to solve the problems of meanings division in lexicography and to explain the basis on the establishment of meanings.The main part of this paper consists of five chapters.30,000 corpora "eat", "bite", "blow", "call" and "drink" were extracted in each chapter respectively in modern Chinese Peking CCL corpus. Extracting all the corpora if the number is less than 30,000. Among them,30,000 corpora of "eat" were extracted, approximately 2,471,327 words in all. After analyzing one by one,2 meanings were suggested to revise,1 to delete and 5 new meanings to add based on the "Modern Chinese Dictionary". A total of 13,602 corpora of the "bite" were extracted, approximately 408,060 words.1 meaning was suggested to modify and 3 new meanings to add based on the "Modern Chinese Dictionary".23,725 corpora of the "blow" were taken,711,751 words approximately.3 new meanings were suggested to add in this case.30,000 corpora of the "call" were extracted, approximately 2,876,535 characters.1 meaning was suggested to delete and 4 new meanings to add. As to the last word "drink",30,000 corpora were extracted, approximately 2,315,187 words and 3 new meanings were suggested to add.The third part is conclusion, in which the innovation and shortcoming of this paper were concluded and the distribution and establishment basis of these meaning items of 5 representative words were summarized.
