The identity of exceptional children refers to that he has a positive cognition,affect and evaluation in the groups. This paper studies identity of exceptional children.It’s not only beneficial to the social development of exceptional children, but also helpful for their parents, teachers and educational institutions. Because they can understand the psychological development of exceptional children and carry out the relevant mental health education.This study is based on the analysis and summary of related literature. This paper employs self-prepared questionnaires carried on three studies. First,on the basis of our exploring on the dimensions of exceptional children identity, the questionnaires of exceptional children identity would be established. Second, the current situation of exceptional children identity would be analyzed. Third, the correlation of identity,self-esteem and mental health. And the last, the countermeasures and suggestions will be put forward. The results show,(1)The questionnaire of exceptional children identity includes three dimensions:personal identity, relational identity, collective identity and social identity. The questionnaires could be a valid scale.(2)The identity of exceptional children is at the middle level. In terms of personal identity dimension, there is significant difference in whether in an ordinary school,disabled type, whether mother is disabled. In terms of relational identity dimension,there is significant difference in gender, grade and disabled type. In terms of social identity dimension, here is significant difference in disabled type. In terms of general mean score of the questionnaire, there is significant difference in disabled type.(3)The self-esteem of exceptional children is at the middle level, there are significant differences in different types of disability.(4)There is mild mental health problems of exceptional children. There is significant difference between innate disabled and acquired disabled. In terms of disabled type, there is significant difference in dimension of depression, anxiety andmaladjustment.(5)There is positive significant correlation between exceptional children identity and self-esteem. And there is positive prediction function of identity to self-esteem.(6)There is negative significant correlation between exceptional children identity and mental health. And there is negative prediction function of identity to mental health.(7)There is negative significant correlation between exceptional children self-esteem and mental health. And there is negative prediction function of self-esteem to mental health.(8)Self-esteem play a role of complete intermediary between identity and mental health.
