This is a general translation report. The translation project is Chapter 22 to Chapter 29 excerpted from the novel named R-T, Margaret and the Rats of NIHM written by Jane Leslie Conly. The novel falls into the category of children’s literature, and the source language is English and the target one Chinese. The author conducts the translation practice by using the computer-aided translation platform MemoQ. As a populous country, China has numerous children. Translation of literature for children, making the pool of literature for children more diversified, is of overriding importance to children’s development including horizon expansion, enlightenment and reading interest stimulation. Except for the analysis of the linguistic features of the the original text, the author also analyzes and elaborates the problems encountered in the course of translation under the guidance of the Skopos Theory. At the same time, the author concludes the translation of literature for children and related translating experiences, and some of the deficiencies are presented as well. It provides a reference to the translation of the similar text.This report contains four chapters. The first chapter provides an introduction to the translation task including the description of the task, the features of the original text and the purposes and significance of the task. In the second chapter, the author presents how the translation is finished, that is the whole process from the preparation before translation to the collation after the completion of the translation. The third chapter illustrates the focal point of translation and related translation strategies. Guided by the Skopos Theory in the whole translation process, the author selected some examples from the material and deliberates the translation form the perspectives of the choice of words, sentence structure and rhetorical device accordingly. The strategies adopted in the translation are also given in this chapter. The last chapter is the concluding part with the reviewing in the translation of the literature for children and the translating experiences. The author also summarizes the deficiencies in the translation and the problems remained for settlement in the future.
