Teaching a language is inseparable from culture, and when students are learning the target language, they are learning its culture as well. The main goal of TCFL(teaching Chinese as a foreign language)is to cultivate students’cross-cultural communicative competence, since cultural differences between different cultures may bring difficulty to the communication. As a result, we must combine culture teaching with the teaching of language. Besides, the cultural factors in language courses are very important even at the primary stage of TCSL; it’s far from enough to only pay attention to the grammar, vocabulary and sentence patterns of language teaching.On the basis of existing research results, this paper summarizes the research status of culture teaching in TCFL, explains the significance of culture teaching in TCFL, and classifies culture project and culture factors. Based on the investigation, statistics and analysis of two sets of primary spoken tsxtbooks--Experience A Course in Spoken Chinese and the Elementary Spoken Chinese of Development Chinese, culture projects are explained. In addition,according to the given and discussed basises and principles of the presentation of cultural factors, the author gives revelant evaluation of the textbooks and puts forward the improvement proposals. Last but not least, the teaching suggestions are given to explore the attitude and abilities of the Chinese teachers in the cultural teaching. Combining with teaching practice, this paper also discusses teaching principles and methods of cultural factors at the primary stage of oral class.
