| Conveying messages concerning China’s domestic and foreign affairs, diplomatic news serves an authoritative channel to better introduce China to the international community. It goes without saying that a high quality translation of diplomatic news is of great significance to China’s economic reform and social development.Based on the author’s translation experience, the report takes the news from the “News From Mission Overseas” on the website of the China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs(MFA) as the object of the study. Under the guidance of the Skopos Theory, the report is mainly devoted to analyzing and researching the difficulties in translating Chinese-featured words and special Chinese sentence patterns and then attempting to present the corresponding translation methods and skills. Specifically, taking into account the distinct purposes and inherent political nature of the diplomatic news, the report takes the “three rules of the Skopos theory” as its theoretical basis, attempting to present literal and free translation, annotation, addition, conversion, reconstruction, etc. to resolve the difficulties in translating Chinese-features words and special Chinese sentence patterns. Hopefully, this report could provide some suggestions and references for the related diplomatic news translation studies in the future. |
