Relationship Among Mental Health, Psychological Capital And Coping Style Of Township Civil Servants In A City

ObjectiveTo explore the mental health status of township government civil servants and analyze the related factors. To explore the coping styles, psychological capital and work attitude of the township government civil servants and analyze the influencing factors.To discuss the relationship among psychological capital,coping style,and mental health of the township government civil servants. To provide a scientific basis for the intervention of township civil servants mental health problems.MethodTotal of351government civil servants from11villages and towns in Huixian city were randomly selected by using cluster sampling method. All participants were surveyed by a set of self-rating questionnaires,includes basic situation questionnaire, Symptom Checklist-90, Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire, Positive Psycap Questionnaire and Work Attitude Scale. The data entry was used by EpiData3.1,data processing and analyzing were used by SPSS21.0.Results1The scores of interpersonal sensitivity (P=0.000) and paranoia (P=0.001) of Symptom Checklist-90(SCL-90) in Huixian township government civil servants were lower than the national norm, the difference has statistical significance. The positive screening rate was34.2%(120people) in this investigation. There were statistically differences in somatization(P=0.001) and deprssion(P=0.014) compared by age. There was statistically difference only in somatization factor (P=0.014, P=0.043) compared by length of service and administrative level.2The score of psychological capital was4.70±0.85.Among which,the optimism score was the highest (5.11points),and then followed by hope,self-efficacy and toughness.There were statistically differences in the self-efficacy(P=0.000) and total dimensions (P=0.025) between male and female. Township civil servants at different age had statiscally differences in self-efficacy (P=0.002). Township government civil servants of different administrative ranks were statistically differences in self-efficacy(P=0.008), hope (P=0.003), optimistic (P=0.018) and total dimensions (P=0.009).3The score of negative coping in township government civil servants was statistically lower than the national norm (P=0.000). There were statistically differences in positive coping between positive science and above personnel and ordinary clerks (P=0.013).4There were significant relationships between psychological capital, total dimensions four dimensions and two dimensions of coping style in township civil servants. Among which, the psychological capital was positively related wtih positive coping style, and negatively related with negative coping style.5All factors and total score of negative coping style and mental health symptoms were positively related. There were no relationship between all factors and total score of positive coping style and mental health symptoms.6Ten factors and the total score of psychological capital in self-efficacy, hope, optimism, total dimensions were negatively related with the most factors of mental health symptoms. And the score of toughness of psychological capital was positive related with the most factors of mental health symptoms.Conclusion1The overall mental health of Huixian township civil servants were closed to the national norm.2Age, length of service, administrative level were the important factors affecting somatization symptoms of the township civil servant. Age was an important influence factor of the depressive symptoms of township civil servants.3The psychological capital of Huixian township civil servants were the medium level.The gender, seniority and administrative level were important influence factor of psychological capital.4Positive science and above personnel are more likely to adopt positive coping style than ordinary clerks.5There were relationship among the township civil servants psychological capital, coping style,and mental health.
