The Develoment Research On University Modern Distance Education In Jiangxi Province

The characteristics of modern distance education, like open, flexible and extending,play a decisive role in the construction of lifelong learning, the learning society andthe popularization of higher education. Therefore, the modern distance education is ofgreat significance. Since the proposal of “implementing the modern distanceeducation project, formating the open education network, and building the lifelonglearning system” in Education Promotion Plan of Action for the21st Century (1999),the Ministry of Education of PRC approvals67colleges and China Central Radio andTV Universities to do the distance education pilot work.It vastly meets the needs ofhigher education.Among the67pilots, there is none of colleges in Jiang xi Province. Instead,Jiangxi becomes the point schools of modern distance education pilots. Byinvestigating the distance education of colleges in Jiangxi, this article puts forward thelong standing issues during the development of modern distance education in Jiangxiand analyzing the cause of this issue. At last, this article also proposes someappropriate development strategies.This article consists of the following six parts:Part one is introduction, consisting of four aspects. Firstly, summarizing the originand significance of this research；Secondly, describing the basic ideas and methods；Thirdly, defining the basic concepts,mainly analyzing and defining “DistanceEducation”,“Modern Distance education”and “University Modern DistanceEducation”. Fourthly, relevant literature review. Mainly combing and analyzing theviewpoints of the college modern distance education among the academic circles inorder to clear and define research questions. The second part discusses the distanceeducation development experience, summarizing the status and significance of theremote education in every stage, and revealing the remote education experience inJiangxi province university. The third part presents the basic theory of remoteeducation in university in terms of life-long education, equal access to education, andpopularization of higher education. It states the important significance of the remoteeducation launched in ordinary university. For the forth part, there is some empiricalstudy and comprehensive survey in the development status of remote education in Jiangxi province university. It summarizes the existing problems, and has an analysis,as the whole, on the problems which from development. Then the part five bringssome pertinent recommendation for the exisiting main problems in developmentprocess of the remote education in Jiangxi province university. Finally, the last part,part six, makes a conclusion, a reflection and a vision.
