Education reform is just unfolding worldwide, in which the curriculum reform is thecore of modern educational reform. More and more people begin to realize the importanceof high school history curriculum which plays the cardinal role in the basichistory-learning, enhancement of humanistic ideas, historical thinking and patrioticsentiment, etc. After the new curriculum reform, the teaching material development andcompilation of high school history curriculum have also made great progress in the regionof mainland and Hong Kong, under the guidance of the new curriculum idea andcurriculum goal. But because of the special nature of the history of Hong Kong, like thedramatic difference of historical tradition and social environment with china mainland,specifically saying here, history textbooks are different. Therefore, Comparative study onthe mainland and Hong Kong’s new high school history in the respects of curriculum sets,curriculum standards, curriculum compilation, and curriculum evaluation can provideuseful reference for the development of more scientific and reasonable history curriculums.Therefore, in this paper based on four editions of high school history teaching materials,namely, the current2007person teaching edition, Yuelu edition, Beijing NormalUniversity edition (formerly the elephant version) and the history curriculums published byHong Kong Modern Education Research press in2009, I make a comparative study ofChinese history curriculums in two different system from the respects of curriculumstandard, teaching design, and curriculum evaluation.Five part of this article included totally:The first part is introduction, which contains purpose and significance of the research,definition of related concepts, literature review, and the main methods and ways ofresearch.The second part is the difference study of historic curriculum settings of mainland andHong Kong, the mainland high school regard history curriculum as a compulsory basiccourse, on the contrary, the history of the Hong Kong region belongs to the elective course. Different curriculum settings reflects the different orientation of the history course, whichare bound to affect the curriculum objectives, textbooks development.The third part mainly is the variation analysis and comparison of the mainland andHongkong in "ordinary high school history curriculum standard" and "China historycurriculum and Assessment Guide (S4six)","history curriculum and Assessment Guide(S4six)". Curriculum criteria and guidance are guidelines of curriculum development butthe Hong Kong’s curriculum guidelines in scientific, operability are obviously better thanthe mainland.The fourth part is the differences analysis in the respects of writing system andspecific textbook design, by comparing five versions of historic teaching materials betweenchina mainland and Hong Kong, trying to analyze the advantages and disadvantages ofdifferent versions of textbooks.The fifth part is the introspection of the high school history curriculum. Based onsummarizing the first four parts, I put forward my views and suggestions for thedevelopment of senior high school history curriculum. I think we must pay more attentionto the value and function of history education, history curriculum as one of the basiccourses cannot be shaken; curriculum standards characteristics should have clarity andoperability, which shall be the important guidance of curriculum development andimplementation; history curriculum content selection and design should keep up with thetimes; curriculum evaluation must construct complete theoretical system to unify theprocess evaluation and result evaluation and provide the basic principles for schoolassessment and public appraisal.
