The idea of "unity of teaching and research" stemmed from the creation of Berlin University, which has manifested the division between teaching and research from the government policy, university management to teachers’behavior after experienced many relative elements changed. The legitimacy of concept suffered widely questioned, Faith in the combination gradually descend from original strong religious beliefs, ideology to marriage, creative contact. So under the new history condition, what is the logic basis of combining teaching and scientific research? What actors restrict the combination? And how establish the link?From the Angle of talent cultivation, the article focuses on Chinese Research University. Firstly, explore the history of teaching and research relationship by historical approach. Secondly, research the logical basis of the unity between teaching and research with the literature research method. Lastly, research systematic analysis the factors and mechanism of action that influences the unity of teaching and research, from three dimensions of macroscopic system, the university internal system and teachers’practical work. In the study, article use policy text analysis and data procession approach on the material which collected through policies text about higher education scientific research and talent training, and some financial data of Research University. In addition, the article does the comparative study, learn the good experiences of combination between teaching and research from American research university talent cultivation.On this basis, research raises some measures and suggestions to propel talent cultivation through unity of teaching and research. It is necessary to modify financial aid policies, scientific management system and university evaluation index at macro level; to reform teacher evaluation rules, teaching management system and undergraduate scientific research management at university level; and to vary talents training mode depend on students grade, disciplines and specialties.
