Helping students learn how to learn is one of important tasks in theteaching of junior middle school. This study, which is based on guidance case andgroup cooperative learning,and combines the actual situation of the students from theprocedures of teaching and studying, puts forward a teaching style that students canlaunch “expounding by themselves” under the guidance of the teacher and the case, inorder to change the traditional teaching way, in which the teaching of the teacher is paidmore attention to but students always learn passively. The study, based on some theoriesincluding the learning theory of Constructivism, the quantitative theory of affectiveteaching, the theory of “the zone of proximal development”, the new curriculumstandard and the regularity of forgetting, practices and researches“students-expounding” through literature, summing up experience and questionnairesurveys. The thesis highlights the idea of “People oriented” that is put forward in thenew curriculum reform. According to the idea, the motivation and initiative of studentsin learning should be paid more attention to, so that students can generate newknowledge, improve abilities,and learn how to learn. So a foundation can be laid forstudents’ creativity and lifelong learning. An effective class model based on guidancecase is being explored in order to provide various choices for teaching methods.The thesis is divided in three parts. The first part mainly introduces the backgroundof the topic and the aim of the research. Also, it gives simple summary and analysis forthe literature of “students-expounding”, guidance case and group cooperative learning.The second part puts forward the thought of “students-expounding” in junior middleschool guidance case classes, and introduces the feasibility according to the theories andpractice. It also shows the principles and detailed operation methods. The third partintroduces the results in the practice of “students-expounding” and analyses themaccording to the questionnaire surveys. It mainly analyses the practical value of “students-expounding” in nine aspects, such as, students’ subject status, studentsparticipation, the understanding of knowledge, emotional attitudes in learning, learninghabits, learning styles, language expression ability, co-existing with others, and learningevaluation.
