Chinese textbooks have been reforming since1978, thus multiple versions exist.People always focus on the changes of the text-selective system, and the articles,which are constantly being added or substracted, as well as the orientation of effectivevalues reflect a particular phenomenon. This paper, via the comparisons of the PEPtextbooks published in1978,1982,1987,1922and2003, combining the theories ofwestern aesthetics and appreciation of ugliness, on the basis of the summary of theexisted researches, puts forward a special phenomenon, which opposites to the one oftraditional appreciation the beauty. In this process, the statistic method of the texts andthe aesthetic perspective of aesthetics, associating with literature survey, statisticanalysis and comparison method all are used to conclude that the public and personalcharacters of the articles, along with the appearance of the educational values. All thisoffers the reasonable advices to the teachers in senior high school.
