The Implications Of Ancient Academy’s University Education For Contemporary Postgraduate Education

The ancient academy, as an popular institute of ancient Chinese higher education, had made great contribution to the development of Chinese traditional culture. As an important ancient education style, ancient academy has its own unique university sprit and university characteristic. The ancient academy’s characteristics comprise:both the teaching and research organization, paying great attention on students’virtue; putting great emphasis on initiating students’interests; famous masters are practical and innovative, they are good at learning from others, the good atmosphere made by them has made great contribution to the following generations; teachers and students formed deep and friendly relations.Nowdays, confronting with the challenge of education globalization,we should not only pursue the mainstream of world higher education, but also review and inherit our own education tradition. This article studies the teaching mode of ancient academy, by doing this, we hope we can offer reasonable advice on today’s post-graduation education.This paper is divided into five parts in total. The first part mainly introduces the research status at home and abroad of the academy. The second part introduces general situation of the development of academy, including the formation of the academy, prosperity, development and decline. The third part focuses on revealing the teaching method of college education and teaching characteristic, respectively from the teaching method, the relationship between teachers and students, academic atmosphere and so on several aspects. The fourth part, compared with the academy, and points out that the contemporary graduate education exist deficiencies. Most of the last, in contrast with reference, provide reasonable suggestions to improve the graduate student education.
