This study takes high school English teachers for subject, Using research methods likenon-structured interview, behavioral event interview, questionnaire and experimental, etc.Accomplished the construction of high school English teacher competency model,competency test paper, and designed competency-based teacher training.First, we formed the "Competency coding dictionary of high school English teacher." byconducting non-structured interviews of46teachers and eight elite leaders, this dictionarycontains22competency items. Then surveyed on97subjects using a questionnaire accordingto the result of behavior event interview of46teachers, and performed exploratory factoranalysis using SPSS statistical software, and through items filtering, the official "Competencyquestionnaire of high school English teacher." was formed. The reliability and validity of thequestionnaire was tested by analysis of the survey on91subjects. Finally, we designed atraining program for teachers using a means of psychological and behavioral group training,and an experimental study was conducted to explore the competency model and teachertraining. The conclusions are as follows:(1) The "Competency coding dictionary of high school English teacher." contains22competency descriptors.(2) Competency model of high school English teacher is constituted by seven dimensions:communication and cooperation, responsibility, professional qualities, initiative, anti-burnout,emotion management, feedback.(3)"Competency questionnaire of high school English teacher." proves there aresignificant differences in the level of competency between excellent staff and the general.(4) Reliability and validity of the questionnaire indicate that this test sufficespsychological measurement requirements, it is reliable and effective.(5) Psychological and behavioral group training can improve teacher’s competency levelon factors of communication and emotional control. Basically,Competency-based teachertraining can improve some high school English teacher’s competency level significantly.
