Social Work Case Service For The City Integrating Of The Migrant Family

Currently, There is large number of migrant workers in cities. Migrant workershave been an important component of the population in Chinese big cities. Differentfrom the past, Migrant workers used to move to city alone and leave their wives andchildren at hometown. As time goes by, Migrant workers those days, especiallyyoung migrant workers, come to work and live in city with their whole family. As aresult, the family members of those migrant workers face the new problem of how tointegrate into city life. Thus, Helping the Family members to integrate into citycommunity, with social work perspective is the key point this article will discuss.With reference to the author’s intership experience in Guangzhou, aftercollecting of various date, the author has a in depth understanding of the currentstatues, the influent factors, and main problems of the family members’ city lifeintegration. Result shows that in Guangzhou, the integration is not so good. Havingmaken full use of the resoures from community and social work organization,adopting the theory of social mobility and social integration as a support, using themethod of case work, and group work, The author help to them to build theself-confidence, to get job in city, to promote the communication between themigrant family members and community neighbors. Helping them integrate intocity life actively, thus improve the their sense of belonging in the city.At last, through serious reflection, the author find out the shortcomes in thissocial practice, and the limitation of social workers’ intervention. Hope this study willhelp migrant family members to involve into city life better.
