The new round of curriculum reform has some new biology curriculum changes, which reflected incurriculum ideas, classroom objectives and content of the curriculum frameworks. It emphasizes "allstudents" and "to promote inquiry-based learning." Course content is increased flexibility and choice.Teaching model is the bridge connecting theory with practice education. The traditional teaching havemany problems, such as mode single function, teaching methods and teaching strategies obsolete,knowledge-based. Teaching objectives put knowledge as the main development direction, while ignorethe students’ scientific literacy, emotions, attitudes and values. So biology class lack of vitality andfun. The students lack of space for independent thinking."Five-steps approach" Teaching mode includes five parts, namely into new courses, showing goals, explored new knowledge, practice and upgrade. Teachers are given free space in every aspect.Teachersdesign methods, formulated teaching strategies. The topics took the seventh grade students at ZhengzhouUniversity Second Affiliated Middle School as the experimental subject, starting from the teaching valuesand teaching practice of teaching mode itself. This paper surveys explored the effect of the five-stepsteaching method in achieving the student’s subjectivity, training the student’s exploring spirit and theinnovation ability from the aspects of the student’s interest in learning, learning initiative, learning, exploring consciousness and academic. The survey results shows that the "five-steps approach" teaching mode changes teachers’ attitudes andteaching methods. The "five-steps approach" teaching mode emphasizes the dominant position of students.Students gain knowledge in the process of active exploration process, and fully mobilize the enthusiasm and initiative of students, and fully enhance the students’ self-learning ability to explore consciousness.Combined with a variety of teaching methods and means, the "five-steps approach" teaching modeimprove the quality of classroom teaching and learning of students. For the questions found in the implementation process of "five-steps approach", the author puts forwardsome suggestions:1. Changing the teaching methods and means, according to the students’ different levels of intelligence, cognitive structures, ways of thinking and different teaching contents and inherent biological laws ofnature, using different teaching methods, teaching methods for teaching activities;2. Changing role of teachers, changing role of teachers, reflecting more the dominant position of students, more in line with the personality development of students;3. Reasonable arrangements for classroom time, to increase students’ self-activity and inquiry learning timefor students to have more leeway and independent learning time;4. Creating equality, harmony, relaxed atmosphere in the classroom to stimulate student interest in learning, and enhance explore consciousness and promote independent learning and changing student ’s learningmethods."Five-steps approach" has the positive significance to junior high school biology teaching. But stereotypedteaching model may not be suitable for all disciplines and all types of classes. So the teaching modes ofcomprehensive application can serve as a direction in the future research.
