Since the Guidance of Elementary Education Curriculum Reforms (prop osed) promulgated in2011, the Englishteaching level of primary school in our country improves gradually. However, the ineffectiveness still exists in Engli sh teaching. Although both teachers and students work hard, students still did poorly onthe three dimensional goal which most directly reflects the teaching effect. With the deep development of course reform, the National Ministry of Education promulgated the Full-time Compulsory Education English Curricul um Criterion (revised) in2011, exploring the effective English teaching strate gy which adjusts with the new course criterion for primary school has been pu t on agenda by vast English teaching staff. This thesis tries to explore the effe ctive English teaching strategy for primary school through analyzing the probl ems and influencing factors of English teaching in the primary school the auth or did internship, in hope of promoting the smooth implementation of new co urse reform in primary school and meeting the need for development of both s tudents and teachers.This thesis consists of five parts. Introduction demonstrates the reason why this theme was chosen, the implementation of effective primary school English teaching and its realistic meaning. With literature review method, this thesis then introduced the theory behind the effective English teaching and the domestic and abroad research results. The second part is empirical research. Through observation method, survey method and interviewing method, the author analyzed the existing problems and causes of current primary school English teaching. The main problems are the lagging teaching concept, incapability of teachers, weak learning ability of students, learning ineffectiveness, and the oversimplified teaching evaluation. The third part of this thesis analyzed the causes of ineffectiveness of primary school English teaching according to environment, teachers, teaching materials and students. The problems of teachers mainly exist in the lack of student-oriented teaching concept and different levels of teaching abilities and the outdated management mode. From the side of students, the main problems are lack of interest and passion for study, formalized studying method and ineffectiveness of learning. As the organizer and executor, the teachers play an important role in effective English teaching. Therefore, based on the concept and standard of effective teaching, the fourth part of this thesis raises some suggestions for teachers’quality construction which including the effectiveness of preparation for teaching, of execution for teaching and of evaluation and feedback for teaching. Through learning the teaching theories of domestic and abroad educational professionals and teaching experiences of domestic top teachers, the fifth part of this thesis put forward some teaching strategies for improving primary school English teaching for listening, phonetics, vocabulary, speaking, reading and writing, in order to provide specific practical guide for effective English teaching in primary school.
