In order to meet the requirements of the era and the development of our country, our country carries out a new round curriculum reform of English. The main goal of this curriculum reform is to cultivate the students' comprehensive language competence and to promote the students' full scale development. To achieve the goal, we should optimize the English teaching to realize effective teaching. During the course from the subject to the curriculum, the goal of English education becomes diverse, so the more rational exploration of effective teaching in the teaching practice is an active reflection to the English teaching.Mainly adopting the methods of the literature analysis, the theory exploration and the case analysis, with the guidance of the latest curriculum thoughts of English, based on English teaching theory, with reference to the domestic and international research developments of effective teaching, with some practical teaching cases of the new curriculum, the thesis explores the effective teaching strategies of English in high schools under the new curriculum background.The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part analyzes the necessity of the study on the effective teaching of English under the new curriculum background. First analyze the domestic and international research situations of effective teaching, then point out the importance of the study on effective teaching strategies of English in high schools.The second part explores the effective teaching theory of English. Analyze the concept and the influence factors of the effective teaching, and put forward the kernel concept of effective teaching: Learning-centred Theory.The third part is the major part of the thesis. With the characteristics and rules of English teaching in high schools as a clue, this part first makes a thorough research on effective teaching strategies of English from three aspects: teaching planning, teaching implementation and teaching evaluation, presents a series of specific strategies for implementation, and then explores the basic strategy of the English teachers' professional development for it is the foundational strategy of the effective teaching.
