In modern society, writing is an important way to communicate, record messages and express feelings through language characters. In nowadays talent competition, writing skill is a major evaluation criterion of the general ability. Processing a good writing skill has become a necessary ability of survival in the community. Hence, no matter in the stage of compulsory education or in senior high school, the Chinese curriculum standard has made an explicit demand on the new generation of China: students in primary school and secondary school should be equipped with a certain skill of writing. This demand was put forward from the perspective of the relationship between national development and needs of talents, therefore in order to coincide with the trendy of social development and meet the requirement of the New National Curriculum Standard. However, it’s full of challenges to meet the requirement for the students or even the teachers in Guanling County, the middle of Guizhou Province which is a mountainous area dwelled mainly by ethnic minorities. It is the optimal time for secondary school students to lay the groundwork for learning how to write, since the secondary students are quick learners, and have a better mastery of language learning. Moreover, from the perspective of national culture development, the ethnic minorities’ students are responsible for the spreading of the ethnical culture. And they will make a big contribution in carrying forward national culture if they make good use of their own language characters. In short, it’s a vital task of Chinese teaching to improve the secondary school students’ writing skills in the ethnical areas.Through investigate and analysis the present situation of composition teaching in two middle school in Guanling Country, the middle of Guizhou Province, this study is to realize the actual situation and existing problems in composition teaching of Guanling Country, where the Bouyei people and Hmong people are the main dwellers, to analysis the reasons and issue reasonable suggestions and comments.This paper is composed of four capters. Capter One:introduction, introduce the significance of topics, the present research, scopes and methods. Capter Two: discuss the requirements in new curriculum standard and summarize the significance of writing in middle school of minority areas. Capter Three:through investigate present situation of junior grade composition teaching in two middle school in Guanling Country, collect and analysis students’s writings, to find the present situation of composition teaching:papers of Grade Seven are almost their own feelings, lacking a main idea; scribbling and minstakes in the writing; word count can not meet requirement of subject, even dialect instead of written language. Papers of Grade Eight are almost narrative, lacking argument, literary style is single;expression lacks rich and bright colours; The handwriting is not neat, the use of punctuation is not enough specification, wrongly written characters. Based on these problems, to analysis the reasons in junior grade composition teaching of Guanling Country and find the reasons, students don’t have a good write habbit. Composition class hour is not reasonable, schools have no multimedia teaching equipments, teaching resources such as libraries are underutilization, parents do not attach importance to children’s study, lack communication with teacher and children. Caprer Four:baded on these reasons, offer reasonable suggestions, hope the research can play a role in promoting the junior grade composition teaching quality of Guanling Country. The last Capter is conclusion.
