| Drama is a set of various forms of literature, dance, music, painting, modeling, and otherarts in an integrated arts. Outstanding works of ancient and modern drama at home and abroadcontains a wealth of ideas and culture. It’s unique artistic charm beneficial to the overallquality of students. But in today’s language classroom teaching, many teachers tend to ignorethe essence of drama, only concerned with the non-drama but text, which resulting in lack ofinterest in learning, dull atmosphere in classroom,and low effectiveness. Perspective inWestern drama teaching which has formed a mature form of teaching is booming now since1960, especially in Britain and America. Therefore, this article tries to compare the differentdrama teaching in US high school and in Chinese high school through the study on thetradition of drama, and tries to give out some beneficial enlightenment for us through the prosand cons of Analysis.This article is divided into four parts. Preface introduces research background,significance, research-related topics and the content. The second part studies on the similarorigins and different aesthetic principles of Western and Chinese drama through the study onthe tradition of drama, and the different drama teaching in US high school and in Chinesehigh school. The third part studies on four aspects of teaching drama: present situation,teaching functions, teaching content, teaching strategies. The comparison should contact withthe tradition of drama, the characteristics of language and literature education and theater artseducation to recognize our own shortcomings. The fourth part gives out beneficialenlightenment for our high school teaching including the the expansion of cognitive andexpressive function, the supplement of content to lives and practice, changing the dramateaching strategies and enhancing the professional quality of teachers.The purpose of this article is intended to change the situation of domestic drama teachingin high school so that drama can show its unique artistic charm to allow students to learn fromthe drama of life strength and spiritual power. It can also let students experience life and adaptto social life better, construct knowledge and develop skills better. The paper is expected toprovide a new perspective for the study of current teaching in high school, to some extent, also hope to enrich the current educational theories for school.The practice of teaching tells us that we must continue to learn new era of advancedteaching concepts and optimize the methods of teaching so that we can make a progress. Facethe Western teaching which is Mature and advanced, what we can do is not behind closeddoors or completely denying ourselves but just copying. We have to weigh the pros and consof both, and get the essence of them. Then we can take an appropriate reference combinedwith our teaching environment. |
