Since the reform and opening-up policy, the higher education in China has beendeveloping rapidly along with the rapid development of social economy and culture.The continuous rise of university enrollment and the extraordinary explosion of thenumber of students in recent years show that China’s higher education has steppedfrom elite education into the developmental phase of popular education. Thepopularization of higher education is good to improve the overall quality of citizens,to satisfy people’s good wish of receiving higher education, and to meet the needs ofthe society to various advanced talents. However, in the process of propelling thepopularization of higher education, the problem about quality coursed by super rapidexpansion of scale is gradually concerned by the whole society, and the qualitymonitoring of higher education has become a hot issue in the area of higher educationtheoretical research.Through literature method, logic analysis method and expert interview method, thisthesis mainly analyzes the basic theory of teaching quality monitoring system of PEmajor in ordinary colleges and universities, which draws the followingconclusions:Firstly, the teaching quality monitoring system in colleges anduniversities is an operating system to exert overall procedural, all-dimensional and allmember wide quality control to teaching process. It is the effective mechanism toguarantee the constant enhance of teaching quality and to strengthenself-discipline.Secondly, all kinds of colleges and universities in our country hasattached importance to teaching quality monitoring. However, due to the differentcomprehension to the concept of teaching quality, different colleges and universitieshave different teaching quality monitoring and evaluation system. Moreover, confinedto the traditional teaching inspection means, many college and universities are shortof scientific, systematic and comprehensive research to monitoring system.Thirdly,the teaching quality monitoring system of colleges and universities is a huge andcomplex systematic engineering. It involves various contents to monitor, such as ofteaching management system, methods and means; education philosophy,professional orientation and discipline construction; syllabus and teaching material; examination paper, assignments, graduation thesis, teaching facilities. And it involvesvarious people, such as teachers, students and administrative staffs at all levels, andthey interrelated and interacted with each other, which are the indispensible part ofthe system.In order to improve the teaching quality of PE major of ordinary colleges anduniversities in Henan Province, we should pay attention to the following aspects inthe process of monitoring and system operating.Firstly, as the concept ofcomprehensive quality is illustrated, the improvement of quality needs to beconstantly modified. Likewise, the teaching quality monitoring system of PE major ofordinary college and university needs to be examined and improved in practice.Theories serve practices, practices react theories. So the teaching quality monitoringsystem of PE major of ordinary colleges and universities also needs the method ofcombing theories with practices.Secondly, this thesis only studied the teaching qualitymonitoring system of PE major of ordinary colleges and universities on thetheoretical level, and there are many unpredictable problems in it, which request ourfurther improvement to the content in our later work and practice to provide referencefor the teaching quality of PE major of ordinary colleges and universities in China.
