As an important part of the educational system, vocational education plays an critical role in the economic development of a country. In 2014, China proposed to establish a modern vocational education system, it means that all aspects of vocational education are bound to face a new round of reform. It also means that China’s emphasis on vocational education got to a high level. With the ongoing reform and development, China’s vocational education has become a whole system, it also stimulates the development of the society and economy. At the same time, problems are also present, such as the funds are insufficient, the employment rate is low, teachers’ abilities are uneven. The problem of teachers is the important factor which restricts the development of vocational education, especially in terms of the appointment of teachers. TAFE College as a leading vocational education institution in Australia, it provides powerful support for the development of economy. The high quality of teachers in TAFE College depends on its special appointment of teachers.There are unified national standards and strict teacher appointment process in TAFE College which guarantee the quality of new teachers. This thesis aims to provide references for China through the study on the teacher appointment of TAFE college in Australia.This thesis is divided into five parts, and the third and fourth part are the key elements.The first part is the introduction. including why I raise this question, literature review at home and abroad. It also points out the purpose, significance and the methods of this study.The second part is full-time teacher and part-time teacher status of TAFE college in Australia. It introduces the teacher appointment periods, teacher sources and teacher structure.The third part is the teacher appointment standards of TAFE college in Australia, it introduces the three stages of standards reform, they are the initial stage of reform, the development stage and the perfect stage, and then analyzes the current standards.The fourth part is the teacher appointment process of TAFE college in Australia, including the procedure of teacher appointment and teacher probation.The fifth part analyzes the characteristics of teacher appointment of TAFE college in Australia, which mainly based on the standards and process of TAFE teacher appointment. The study provides good references for China on the teacher appointment in vocational education reform.
