Chinese is the basic for us to learn as a course to teach national language. The ability we needed in life all come from Chinese. Reading is an important way to learn Chinese well. Chinese educators and researchers always take Chinese reading teaching as the focus of attention and research,for we can learn to recognize the words,make up words and sentences,appreciate the beautiful mood and taste the elegance and custom from it.After many years of operation, basic education curriculum reform in our country has made remarkable achievements under the joint efforts of everyone. A remarkable characteristicof basiceducation curriculum reform isStudent-oriented and emphasizing thecomprehensive development of the students. Schools and education department evaluate the students’ overall level which not only depends on their general education situation, but also depends on their knowledge and skills acquired by other means. Therefore extracurricular reading is absolutely an important indicator to evaluate it.The New Curriculum Standard put forward in the general objective is that students should have independent readingability, rich accumulation, and good language sense and learn to use a variety of reading methods, etc.It is impossible to gain all these abilities from class. The better way is to make students extracurricular reading more. Extracurricular reading not only can improve the classroom reading level, but also can improve the effect of classroom teaching as an important complement of in-class reading.In recent years I have found many problems of students’ extra-curricular reading in the teaching process. In a study of extracurricular reading of our school students by different ways, I found the problems: junior high school students reading out of the class is to complete the task assigned by the teacher and they like to read entertainment and lightweight books; after extracurricular reading they seldom communicate with others; extracurricular reading timeis taken by Classroom learning etc. I write the thesis is toanalyze and solve the problems.The introduction mainly put forward the background, origin, theme and the methods of the research.In the first part it discusses the rational thinking of extracurricular reading of junior school students from two aspects.One is the new requirement of The New Curriculum Standard.The other is the classification of the extracurricular reading.In the second part it points the problems of the extracurricular reading of junior school students and analyzes the reasons of them through knowing the real situation by student questionnaires.In the second part it puts forward the guidelines to the extracurricular reading of junior school students and discusses it in macrocosm and microcosm on the problems which are found in the second part.From this research, I eventually want to find the problems of the extracurricular reading of junior school students and propose effective solutions which are able to make a contribution to improve the quality of Chinese teaching, especially of Chinese reading in the region and school.
