After the enrollment expansion and the charge system reform in higher education, college students’subsidized issues are attracting growing attention. The party and government have long been thinking highly of and caring about college students’ subsidization work and have established diversified college subsidization system. The 18th CPC National Congress established "fostering integrity and promoting rounded development of people" as fundamental task of education and raised higher requirements for college subsidization work. Issues such as how to perform the moral function of college subsidization work and how to improve the effectiveness and influence of this moral function have become a significant goal of the reform and development of college subsidization work in new period. By comparative research method, literature review method and systematic research method, this study starts with the concept and development of the moral function of college subsidization work, discusses the hindering factors and proposes some basis approaches heuristically to improve the moral function of college subsidization work.The study includes four chapters. Chapter One overviews college subsidization work in China and its moral function. Some major concepts are defined first, such as the concept of "college students’subsidization work", "moral education" in both a broad and a narrow sense. Besides, the meaning and characteristics of "the moral function of college students’subsidization work" are analyzed. Meanwhile, the moral functions in different periods are sequenced according to the development of the college subsidization work. Chapter Two analyzes the moral function of college students’ subsidization work in detail. This moral function is divided into two levels:social instrument and human study. From the perspective of social instrument, the social moral function of college students’subsidization work is positioned on politics function, economic function, cultural function and social function. When it comes to human study, the individual moral function is positioned on character formation, awareness cultivation, spirit stimulation and behavior guiding. Chapter Three discusses factors that hinder the moral function of college students’subsidization work. This part finds out factors that can explain the ineffective situation of current college students’subsidization work. Chapter Four suggests some basic approaches to the improvement of college students’ subsidization work. Combined with the definition of moral function and its current situation, the study gives some advises from the institutional system, university management, social participation and student self-education.Subsidization work is an important proportion of the moral education for college students. It performs the moral function in itself and plays a significant role in solving students’ both ideological and practical problems. The study contributes to the enrichment of the carriers to the moral education work. On the basis of students’ material satisfaction, this work can guide students’ spiritual development, cultivate and fulfill their socialist core values and make the fundamental task of education which is "fostering integrity and promoting rounded development of people" come true.
