Corporate university refers to a new type of business organization which is established by a corporate for the consideration of market competitions and the talent demands of development strategy with an objective of talent cultivation. So far, the research on corporate university is restricted to two aspects: first, from the perspective of the corporate and as a commercial organization, to how the corporate university organizes its own talent education; second, from the perspective of educator, to discuss the operation and development of corporate university. However, with the growing complexity of innovative competitive environment, corporate university has evolved from simple internal training provider into a new commercial academic institution of talent cultivation and talent integration. Therefore, from the perspective of the talent-cultivation strategy, it becomes necessary for corporate university to analyze and conduct research on strategic positioning, decision-making mechanism and implementation method.Adopting a case study methodology(i.e., using the WX Polytechnic, the corporate university found by the WX Group that is a well-known listed corporate, as an example), this paper systemically discusses its cultivation strategy, decision-making mechanism and implementation method of engineering students. Specifically, it analyzes the strategic decision-making mechanism which strikes a balance between the corporate interests and the public benefits of talent cultivation, discusses the strategic positioning demanded by the property right, and develops the engineering student strategy implementation method with a practice focus. Based on the above analyses, this paper presents the benchmarks for the WX Polytechnic in its talent cultivation strategy to meet the talent needs from industries and the corresponding implementation plan. This paper also discusses the weaknesses existing at the decision-making mechanism level and presents the corresponding solutions for improvement and optimization. The results of this research can provide recommendations for the talent cultivation of corporate universities in China.The innovation of this paper lies in analyzing the strategic positioning, decision-making mechanism and implementation method of engineering talent cultivation of corporate university from the perspective of strategy, and the limitation is that it only carries out a case analysis, with a lack of comparative studies.
