The Research On The Social Integration Of Floating Population Based On The Perspective Of Living Condition

Since the reform and opening up, our country’s industrialization and urbanization have been developing rapidly. Under the background of rapid economic development, more and more people choose to leave their hometown to large cities to seek job opportunities and development space. With the increase of floating population and appearance of new features, as well as the development demand of harmonious society of our country, the social integration of floating population becomes an irresistible trend. And housing, as the material goods floating population needs to survive and develop, the quality of floating population’s dwelling condition will surely affect their social integration.This paper categorized and summarized the situation of floating population and their social integration comparatively comprehensively and systematically, and summed up the existing experience. According to the data of Chinese General Social Survey (CGSS) in 2008, this paper mainly studied the following aspects of content:firstly,it conducted a census on the way used by floating population to access to housing, and compared the residential choice between floating population and local residents, found out that many of the floating population living through renting house, while the local residents living through buying a house. Secondly, it analyzed the relationship between factors including marriage, income, registered permanent residence, working condition and educational level of floating population and their residential choice by using the way of two-dimensional contingency table, and found that the marriage, registered permanent residence, and education level are the main influence factors. On this basis, it used the method of multivariate Logistic to analyze the reason for these factors’ influence on floating population’s residential choice. Thirdly, it analyzed the housing area of the floating population and their own housing welfare satisfaction, and then found that the per capita living area of the floating population is smaller than local residents, so did their lower housing welfare satisfaction. In the end, it presented the current situation of floating population’s living condition and environment by information collection to explain the necessity and urgency of improving the living condition and environment of floating population.Based on studying the living condition of floating population, this paper pointed out the adverse effect of floating population’s poor living condition as well as the rural settlement model on their social integration, analyzed the reasons causing adverse effect, indicated the scientificity and feasibility of promoting social integration from improving floating population’s living condition, and proposed relevant measures to improve their living condition and environment from various aspects including household registration system, leasing market, residential model, the floating population themselves and local residents by combing with existing relevant foreign and domestic experience of renovation of the concentrated area of floating population. The scientific and feasible strategy, which can be effectively applied into social life in practical lives, is of significant value for solving the issue of floating population’s social integration, promoting the development of urbanization and constructing a harmonious society.
