Since the new standard of Ideological and Political teaching has been implemented in senior high school, traditional teaching methods, such as merely input from teacher and no speaking among students, are gradually abandoned. The increasing number of educators starts to emphasize on how to improve students being engaged and innovated in learning Political. Encouraging students to ask questions is one of methods being popular among senior teachers, which lead to deep discussion about ’how to develop students’awareness on asking question’,’factors impact on the approach’ and ’how to implement’, to name a few, with certain suggested opinions and action plans. However, during six-year teaching activities, the author find out this method is less effective. According to the current phenomenon connected with author teaching experience, the article is aim to research and discuss the effectiveness of encouraging students to ask questions. There are mainly three sections to focus on its deficiency in senior Political lessons and suggestions about how to solve it.The introduction includes the origin and significance of the teaching methods, with researching evidence around the world. The first session the author analyzes the concept of the problem instruction and implementation requirements. The second session points out several performances and factors revealing the less effectiveness. There are four poor performances in the teaching model, involving laissez-free class, being flashy without substance, questions without answers, and painting the lily on questions. Theses arise from three aspects:1) teachers are not well qualified 2) The lack of engaged awareness and ability 3) The lack of support by teaching environment. The last session, according to analysis of current situation, shows more effective methods to improve the model of encouraging students to ask questions. In detail, it requires teachers to lead the teaching process. Besides, it should engage students with positive attitude. Moreover, it is significant to create a well-organized environment for this teaching method. In conclusion, the author summarize an entire cognition about encouraging students to ask questions in Political lessons in senior high school, which embraces further suggestions to discuss and develop.
