Both the international and domestic experiences show that education is one of the most effective means to reduce poverty. In recent years, the vulnerable groups in urban life—urban low-income families have got more and more attentions, preventing the transmission of poverty from generation to generation has become the new idea of anti-poverty in China.Studies have shown that compared to ordinary families, poor families’ education of teenagers exist a series of problems, mainly include:parents’education level is low, weak ability to discipline their children; Academic performance is lower than the average level, low self-evaluation; strong inferiority complex; The low income of initial career etc. These problems lead to children of poor families in the low level of competitiveness in the labour market in the future, low wages lead to individuals and families back into the cycle of poverty. Existing research shows that the current research of urban low-income families children’s self-confidence improving also needs to be perfected. Research on the origin of this issue mostly are theory, mainly on pedagogy, the psychology category; research in rescue methods mostly insist on giving children something, the principal position of the children of low-income families have been ignored; research on the relief measures mostly insist on the participation of government, social non-profit organizations have been ignored.As a special activity of assistance, social work is rich in theoretical basis and professional skills at the same time, it emphasizes the service object centered practice. From the perspective of social work, it is necessary to the use expertise on children’s self-confidence improved of low-income families in urban areas in rescue activities. On the one hand, the author try to research on the practice level of children’s self-confidence improving of low-income families in urban areas; On the other hand, the practice experience is worthy of promotion.In order to help the growth of the children of low-income families in urban areas, the author research from the perspective of social work, selected one of the community of Nanjing city, in order to serve for the low-income families in urban areas with social work. The reason why we select it are as follows:first, children of low-income families in urban areas in this community is relatively concentrated and more representative, it is advantageous for the service activities; Second, the community has a strong willingness to accept service, at the same time is convenient on active center. On the service method, we use the method of group work, serve on children’s self-confidence improving group activities of low-income families in urban areas, including needs assessment, service design, implementation and evaluation, etc. Through the detailed record, explore if social work,especially team work,is feasible and necessary in this problem.Based on the above ideas, this paper research framework are as follows:The first part includes the question proposed, the research object and research method, the related concept definition, literature review and the evaluation of the literature.The second part includes the introduction and analysis of the self-confidence improving project of low-income families in urban areas "le fu gas station", it is divided into the stage of preparation, implementation, and evaluation of the project.The third part is mainly the conclusion to the service plan summary and thinking.Finally, the conclusion of this research are as follows:group work in urban low-income families children’s self-confidence improving is necessary both in theory and practice; Group work in children’s self-confidence improving of low-income families in urban areas is feasible; The practical results prove that it needs intervention of group work.Thinking of the study are as follows:on the method, the intervention of children’s self-confidence improving service of low-income families in urban areas should include case work, group work and community work; In the field of service, it should be taken to family-school-community three line areas; In the route,countries with non-profit organizations should be taken to service path coverage network.
