Composition teaching takes on half of the total of Chinese language teaching. But in fact, the writing ability of a large part of our students is awful. They are called underachievers in writing. They don’t take a great interest in writing and their attitude to writing is not active. The writing materials lacks, writing content is outmoded and the purpose of writing is not clear. How to improve their writing interests and abilities is always an urgent issue to be settled for Chinese teachers. The essay takes No.4Zeguo Middle School as example. It is based on the new curriculum standard. In strategy, it has profited from the domestic and foreign composition teaching. Meanwhile it is based on the author’s15years’teaching experience to improve the analysis and discussion about writing ability of underachievers.This study first puts forward the relevant research background and defines the reform of current Chinese writing teaching and the sound development of students’personalities. The main research methods of this thesis are literature research, survey research, action research and experience summarization. Next it puts forward the concept of underachievers in Chinese writing. And then the author has carried on the literature review. This paper analyzes the domestic and foreign research present situation of Chinese writing teaching. From the perspective of empirical investigation about the present situation of Chinese writing teaching for the underachievers in junior middle school and the analysis of internal cause and external cause,the results shows that the underachievers in writing have many problems as follows,the awful writing cognitive structure, the unclear writing motivation, the lack of interests in writing and the poor study habits etc. And on this basis, this paper also gives an analysis in attribution from the surrounding environment, teachers and other external factors. Finally,on the basis of the previous analysis it puts forward the corresponding countermeasure to improve the capacity of the underachievers’writing. At the operational level, the method that cultivates the underachievers’writing ability is by using diary teaching. How to improve the underachievers’writing ability is through marriage between computers, multimedia and writing and by developing the strengths of the underachievers’intelligences. The Assessments of the underachievers’writing ability should be comprehensively covered with the students’ different writing levels, the emphasis on process and the diversification of subjects. The purpose of study is to put forward an effective strongly operable teaching idea of the underachievers’Chinese writing. Hopefully it can provide a reference point of a view to develop Chinese writing in junior middle school.
