Physics reading ability is an important part of the students’ self-learning ability, it is the requirement of quality-oriented education, and it is also one of the important means of learning. Therefore, to develop the rural students’ physics reading ability can not only meet the demands of curriculum reform, but will certainly help with students’ lifelong learning.This paper tries to research on how to cultivate the rural junior middle school students’ physics reading ability from both theoretical and practical aspects. Firstly, through the literature survey method, we can have a better understanding of the theories about reading comprehensive system. Secondly, we survey the physics reading ability of the countryside junior middle school students by making a questionnaire, the results show that (1) A lot of students’ reading habits are poor (2) The physics reading methods of most students are not scientific enough.(3) More than half of the students’ physics reading motivation is not strong (4) Most of the students’ reading efficiency is low. Thirdly, we interviewed many physics teachers to find out the proper ways of teaching and learning strategies on physics reading. They suggest that we should stimulate the students’ reading motivation, cultivate the students’ good reading habits and teach them the correct reading methods. Fourthly, we can understand the characteristics of the textbook completely and grasp the point of view in each class by studying the teaching materials, and put forward feasible methods and strategies in reading teaching at the same time. Finally, we carried out the physics reading teaching strategies in the parallel classes of Grade9to test its effectiveness.’ The research results show that the practice of physics-reading-teaching strategies can improve the students’ self-learning ability significantly, Moreover, it have a certain influence on the physical performance, but the effect is not obvious and it will still take a lot of time for furt.
