Research On Wuxi City’ Graduates’ Vocational Training

Vocational training, an educational and training activity according to therequirements of the occupation or labor status to workers, is for the purpose todevelop and improve the professional skills of labors. Depending on the trainingorganizations, it can be mainly divided into the grounds of the government-led publicvocational training, vocational training undertaken by training institutions, and stafftraining carried out by the employing unit as well. In recent years，the number ofcollege graduates in China has increased year by year. The employment of collegegraduates is facing unprecedented challenges due to the severe employment situation,as well as the impact of the current financial crisis. The success of employment aftercollege graduation has now become a common concern of the whole society. As themain way to cultivate highly skilled talents, vocational training, to ensure thegraduates can obtain the employment, becomes an important job. As a special groupof labor force, college graduates both have the advantage of well educated and thedisadvantage of lack of practice. Graduates’ vocational training becomes an importantpart of human resource development, and it is the basis of labor and employment. Itplays an important role to improve the quality, employability, career transition, as wellas the capability of graduates.Judging from the current situation in Wuxi, vocational training for the graduateshas achieved some success in promoting economic and social development of theregion, as well as solving the employment problems of graduates. However, there arestill many unsatisfactory areas conducted for graduates’ vocational training at the same time. Compared with vocational training system for the college students inadvanced countries, efforts has to be improved, and the relevance as well aseffectiveness needed to be further enhanced. The current plight of graduates’vocational training in Wuxi includes the imperfection of legislative andmanagement system, policy implementation, teachers’ construction and funding,quality and so on. The graduates’vocational training in foreign countries can provideus with a wealth of experience, so we can make efforts to improve the imperfect areas,in order to protect the development of vocational training. So analyzing the successfulexperience of their vocational training thus make recommendations to promote thedevelopment of vocational training in Wuxi is the main point of this study.
